Son of the Mob
This book was nominated for the 3 Apples Book Award, an award for the most popular book for Teens in New York State. However, our book club readers had mixed opinions about this book.
Why do you think this book was nominated for the 3 Apples award?
Did it deserve to be nominated?

I didn't really get what the story was about. I think people should give the book a try though!
I dont know why it was nominated, I didnt like it, it was too "mobby"
I liked the book it was interesting and kept you on your toes. I think this book deserved the award. I definetly think everyone should give it a try.
I have absolutly no clue why it was nominated. And NO, I don't think it deserved to be nominated. It was not a good book at all, but that is just my opinion. I ABSOLUTLY HATED IT! But again, that is just my opinion.

I thought this book was okay....... it was pretty inapropriate (You don't want to know) but the plot was pretty good. I think that it shouldn't have been nominated though. I would reconsider checking out and reading this book if your planning on doing so, or at least until your 14.
Son of the Mob is PURE AWSOMENESS!!! I think Vince was PURE AWSOMENESS!!! I really recomend it.
Cool that you enjoyed it. It's wierd how there were people like you who had a great positive opinion about this book, and people who really hated it for their own reasons.
It was nominated because it was a love story.

I'm sorry, but I really don't like son of the Mob. Some of the scenes were too mature, too mushy, and not appropriate. I just didn't like the plot and such. One of the worst ever.
I don't know why it was nominated, I really didn't like it. The plot of the story was okay, but otherwise, it was just not enjoyable. If you were thinking about checking this book out I would seriously reconsider, it's too late for me but you still have a chance. DON'T READ IT PLEASE I'M BEGGING YOU!!!!!!!!!!!
It wasn't as bad as you made it sound, but I still think it shouldn't have been nominated for the 3 apples award. Then again the 3 apples award is nominated from like, 15 year olds. I wouldn't try this book if I was thinking of checking this book out though......

I agree that it was not pleasant. I think 8th graders would enjoy this a little bit more then 7th graders, but I personally would wait till 9th grade to read this book.
I thought this book was not appropriate for our age group. Alot of people said they hated it. I actually didn't think it was really that bad or that good. Yet I think people would enjoy this book more and understand the point of veiw more if they were older. One reason I think people voted it onto the 3 Apples list was because it had a different plot to it. I thought it was different how it was told from a guy's point of view.
Great book that shows that you never can judge a person by their cover.
